Etanercept

1 - METHOD OF ACTION

Etanercept (Enbrel®) is a biotherapy belonging to the anti-TNF alpha family. Contrary to the other anti-TNF alpha drugs which are monoclonal antibodies, etanercept is a fusion protein. The soluble P75 TNF alpha receptor is linked to the Fc portion of a human IgG1. Etanercept binds to the soluble TNF alpha receptor competitively, preventing it from binding to its target receptors.
