Geographic tongue

Geographic tongue, also called benign migratory glossitis, is a benign condition that sometimes occurs together with psoriasis or eczema. It is characterised by small erythematous areas surrounded by a whitish border. The lesions resolve spontaneously, but recur frequently. The condition is often associated with fissured tongue. None of the local treatments used have been assessed relative to spontaneous regression. The lesions are most often asymptomatic, but burning may be alleviated by local treatment with Betamethasone mouthwash.
