Cutaneous amoebiasis

Cutaneous amoebiasis is a rare presentation of amoebiasis infection caused by Entamœba histolytica, the only intestinal amoeba that is pathogenic in man. It is a serious disorder causing widespread damage.

Other so-called "free-living" amoeba belonging to the Acanthamœba genus can also cause skin damage in immunosuppressed patients (acanthamoebiasis)
