Fibromas on the skin

The term fibroma is used for different types of tumours whose common feature is a hyperplasia of certain components of the dermis. Many of these lesions are acquired and can develop as a reactive process to trauma: these types are fibrosing lesions. Another group is the hamartomas, and finally some lesions are of unknown origin. There is very little in the literature about the treatment of fibromas since surgical excision resolves all of these disorders. This chapter details the pathology of lesions classed as belonging to the fibroma family, excluding benign and malignant neoplasms.
