Benign summer light eruption (BSLE) is an extremely common photodermatosis affecting 10 to 20 percent of the adult population, particularly young women (85 percent of cases). Time of onset tends to be between the ages of 15 and 25, but it is sometimes observed in children . It is considered by some Anglo-Saxon authors to be a harmless form of polymorphic light eruption .
